Origin of Vastu Shashtra

The elements of Vaastu Shastra are also mentioned in Veds, Ramayan & Mahabharat. Same way Vaastu Shastra was also mentioned in Vikramadityas "Nav Ratna", among those Nav Ratna one of the Ratna was Vara Mihir who was a well-known Vaastu Shastri.

In his Granth Bruhad Shanita he has mentioned the benefits of Vaastu Shastra. In Ramayan Manu Rishi designed the city of Ayodhya as per Vaastu Shastra. After the kidnap of Sita by Ravan the bridge that was made in between India and Lanka was constructed by Nal the son of Great Vishvakarma. In Mahabharat the Magical City of Pandavas was also constructed as per the rules of Vaastu Shastra. In different Purans like Skandhpuran, Garudpuran, Agnipuran, Naradpuran, Vayupuran, Matsyapuran have also mentioned the benefits of Vaastu Shastra.

Skandhpuran : In which the construction of a city is mentioned
Garudpuran : In which the construction of Temple and Home is mentioned
Agnipuran : In which how the things should be arranged in a home is mentioned
Naradpuran : In which Lake, Well and different types of Temples Vaastu construction is mentioned VayuPuran : In which only the Temples constructed on different heights are mentioned
Matsyapuran : In which the construction of different types of Pillars are mentioned like Square, Hexagon, Octagon, Circle etc.

There are many Purans in which numerous benefits and methods of Vaastu Shastra are mentioned.According to different Vedas Parasar, Garg, Agastya, Markand, Kshyap etc are known as the well-known Vaastu Shastri's. In North India more importance is given to Vaastu Shastri's like Kshyap, Bhrigu and Mya and in Southern part of India more importance was given to Vaastu Shastri's like Parasar, Mya Vishvakarma, Bhaskar and Markandya. Samagran Sutradhar, Vishvakarma Vaastuprakash, Bruhad Sahinta, Mya Matam, Mansara etc are among the oldest Vedic Literatures in India which were written before more than 3000 years in which a deep study of Vaastu Shastra was incorporated. In all this Vedic Literatures they have mentioned about the techniques of construction of different places like Construction of City, Construction of Lake, Construction of Well, Construction of Home, Construction of Garden, Construction of Temples, Construction of Dance Class etc.


Introduction of the Four Vedas in Ved:

Ayurved : It was originated from Rigveda
Gandharvaved : It was originated from Shamveda
Dhanurved : It was originated from Yajurved
Atharwaved : From which the origin of Shilp and Sthapatya Ved was mentioned in Vaastu Shastra

Vaastu Shastra is also mentioned in Mansaras 28 Literature Ishaan, Vishwakarmiyakram, Vrtam Myamatam Bhargavam, Vaastu Vidhya Paraskriyakram, Drityakram Makrandam, Gopalam, Prayogmanjari, Nardiyam, Bhanumatam, Peruhitam, Indmatam, Boddhmatam, Gautamam, Kshyapam, Manusaram, Kullam, Settem, Kshritraymalam, Vishishtam, Desikam etc. in which city construction, well construction, lake construction, palace construction, sculpture modeling etc are included.In the same way old constructions like Mohen-jo-daro, Harrappa, Dwarkanagri, Patliputra etc are some of the brilliant architectures of Vaastu Shastra.The name Vaastu was originated from the word "Vastu". In a square form the earth's total kilometers are 12760 km. or converting it to equal sides =40102.856 km. on one side it is 10025.714. If this is divided into 9 equal parts i.e. 1113.968 km and four parts is 2506.428 km.
